Watch: The White House says Trump will accept the outcome of the investigation into the bombing of a school in Iran

White House press secretary Carolyn Leavitt did not answer why President Donald Trump falsely asserted Monday that Iran had access to a U.S.-made Tomahawk missile, the weapon that was likely used to strike a girls’ school in Iran, killing 165 people.

At a press conference on Tuesday, she responded in part that “the president has the right to share his views with the American public” while noting that he “said he would accept the outcome of this investigation.”

Raytheon, the US manufacturer of Tomahawk missiles, sells the weapon to some allies, but there is no evidence to suggest that Iran has ever gotten its hands on a cruise missile.

When asked Monday why he was the only person in his administration to make the claim, Trump replied: “Because I don’t know enough about it.”
