US President Donald Trump said he was “ok” with holding a public hearing for survivors of the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

“I’m OK with that,” he told PBS News’ Liz Landers during a media briefing outside the White House. “I think we’ve had a lot of public hearings. I’m OK with that, but I understand the women didn’t want to be sworn in.”

“That’s what I heard, that women, victims or whatever, refused to take the oath, which was a bit surprising,” he added.

Landers asked him about First Lady Melania Trump’s recent comments about Epstein and whether he supports her call for Congress to hold a public hearing for survivors.

In a speech at the White House last week, Melania Trump denied allegations that she had a close relationship with Epstein and his co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell. She also called on Congress to provide survivors with a public hearing and an opportunity to testify before lawmakers.
