President Donald Trump said in a prime-time speech on Wednesday that he has negotiated with drug companies and foreign countries to reduce drug and pharmaceutical prices by 400 to 600%.

“I’m doing what no politician in either party has ever done, which is standing up to special interests to dramatically lower prescription drug prices,” he said.

The first wave of these promised discounts will be available in the new year through a new website: TrumpRX.govTrump said. The website currently says: “Coming soon. January 2026.”
Trump said health insurance companies “have gotten rich on billions of dollars in money that should be going directly to the people,” claiming that the “unaffordable” Affordable Care Act, an Obama-era law, was created to make these companies rich.
His comments come as millions of Americans who get health insurance through the Affordable Care Act prepare to pay twice the average premium next year, after Congress was unable to agree on how or whether to extend subsidies set to expire at the end of the month.
