Watch: Trump says Iran’s new leaders “gave us a gift” related to oil and the Strait of Hormuz

US President Donald Trump mysteriously claimed on Tuesday that he had received a gift from Iran “worth an enormous sum of money,” and told reporters that this gift revealed to him that “we are talking to the right people.”

Asked whether he trusted the Iranians who were said to be in talks with American representatives, Trump said he did not trust anyone but hinted at receiving a “gift.”

“They gave us a gift, and the gift arrived today,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. “I won’t tell you what that gift was, but it was a very important prize.”

Pressed for more details, Trump said it was “about oil and gas” but did not go further. “It was a very nice thing that they did. But what it showed me is that we’re dealing with the right people.”
