The WRU launched a strategy in October proposing a major change to the Welsh game, which included cutting one of the four men’s professional teams.

The governing body has so far failed to achieve this, and more talks are expected in the coming weeks.

Clubs had the opportunity to examine the WRU’s hierarchy at the November Annual General Meeting (AGM) but there was only one query about the professional game raised in the question and answer session.

The Central Glamorgan Rugby Union now feels the WRU must answer questions about its leadership.

They say that if “the people who are being paid to do this job have to use consultants to guide them, it begs the question whether we have the right staff in these roles”, adding: “There are experienced people within Wales who understand the rugby landscape and will willingly give their time.”

The letter continued: “We feel strongly that we as clubs and shareholders need to hold the Football Association to account, and the only mechanism we have to do this at this time is through an extraordinary general meeting.”

“To call an extraordinary general meeting, we require a minimum of 10% of voting members to support the call for such a meeting.

“However, we would like to send a stronger message and therefore encourage clubs to survey their members to obtain agreement from as many member clubs as possible that change is needed under the proposals we are putting forward.”
