West Ham ‘take a baby step’ by winning after 10,000 fans protest

West Ham supporters will be happy with the three points, but it will change nothing in terms of the protests.

They want Sullivan and Brady, who have held power since 2010, gone.

West Ham won the Conference League title in the 2022-23 season, which was their first title in 43 years, but have appeared to have gone backwards since then.

Nuno is the team’s third coach, after Julen Lopetegui and Potter, since the departure of David Moyes at the end of the 2023-24 season.

Another issue is the 62,500-seat London Stadium, which was an athletics stadium built for the Olympic Games, having had to leave its much-loved Upton Park.

Fans keep it fresh – there have been several forms of protests this season.

There were organized demonstrations before the 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace on September 20. That was Potter’s last match.

On 20 October, thousands of fans stayed away from a 2–0 defeat to Brentford, in Nuno’s first match in charge.

On November 3, last weekend, fans staged a sit-in protest.

This time it was a funeral march through Stratford, ending in the stadium.

Hammers United organizers said: “A huge thank you to all the supporters, young and old, who took part in the protest march, which was an overwhelming success.

“Thousands of you came out and were heard clearly! Come on, Ironmen!”

There is no reason to believe that a narrow victory over Burnley will prevent these protests from continuing.
