West HamNorway’s interest in Norwegian striker Jørgen Strand Larsen has waned after his discovery Wolves I want £40m for the 25-year-old.

The Hammers are committed to strengthening Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad with impressive reinforcements.

Larsen was at the top of the list of potential signings and Wolves coach Rob Edwards has not closed the door on the Norwegian striker, who departs Molineux next month after a 1-1 draw with Manchester United.

However, West Ham believe the price Wolves want for Strand Larsen, who signed a new contract until 2030 in September, is too high. They are looking for alternatives, although the possibility of a revival of their interest cannot be ruled out.

Newcastle had bids worth £50m and £55m rejected in the summer, although Wolves have since embarked on a disastrous season that looks certain to end in relegation back to the Championship.

“We’re going to make the right call to each individual,” Edwards said.

“Only time will tell. It will be the club’s decision and I’m sure there will be movement in and out because we want to make an impact during the month.”

West Ham, who drew 2-2 with Brighton at the London Stadium to close the gap on fourth-placed Nottingham Forest from bottom to four points, are now looking elsewhere, where Crystal Palace striker Eddie Nketiah is believed to be of interest.

Nketiah has scored four goals in 19 appearances for Palace so far this season.

However, the 26-year-old former Arsenal player has only made two Premier League starts, most recently in the 4-1 defeat to Leeds on December 20.
