West Indies bowl a full innings of spin in the ODI in Bangladesh

Romario Shepherd, the all-rounder, has also been ruled out of the playing XI while seamers Jediah Blades and Shamar Joseph are injured.

Bangladesh turned to the pace of Mustafizur Rahman – he bowled eight wickets for 40 runs in the regulation innings – but the spinners still dominated, taking all nine wickets as the tourists finished on 213-9 to leave the scores tied.

Having been 133-7 earlier, West Indies needed just five runs off the last over with two wickets remaining but could only manage two off the first five balls.

With No. 53 Hope not out at the non-striker’s end, that left No. 11 Pierre three to go off the final delivery and edged a sweep to square leg where wicket-keeper Nurul Hasan dropped the catch and allowed the Windies to steal two and force a super over.

The home side were set on 11 to win off the six balls, and despite starting with a wide sweep and then following it up with a no-ball, spinner Hossain conceded only one of the last overs when Bangladesh needed three balls to seal victory.

The series concludes on the same ground on Thursday.
