Whistleblowers submitted 185 reports of suspected doping to the UK National Anti-Doping Organization in 2025.

The UK Anti-Doping Authority (Ukad) says concerns raised through its ‘Protect Your Sport’ whistleblowing initiative have led to two people being charged with breaching anti-doping rules.

The 185 reports, which came from 25 sports, are the second highest since the scheme was launched in 2020, behind the 211 in 2024.

“Seeing another year of consistently high reports is positive, it shows that individuals feel safe coming to us and that they want to protect the integrity of their sport,” said Mario Theofanos, Head of Intelligence and Investigations at UCAD.

WhatsApp and SMS reporting channels introduced in 2024 allow Ukad investigators to respond in real time to whistleblowers, without them ever being able to see their names or numbers.

“Introducing WhatsApp and SMS has been incredibly valuable,” Theophanos added.

“It has quickly become one of our most widely used platforms for reporting suspicions of doping and allows us to ask additional questions if necessary, all while maintaining anonymity.

“Throughout 2026, we will continue our efforts to provide new resources and tools that help reduce barriers to reporting, because the information we receive can be vital in helping us disrupt and prevent doping in sport.”

In total, 15 people will be sanctioned in the UK for anti-doping violations in 2025.
