The 13 Welsh players based in England and France initially named in Tandy’s autumn squad are unavailable for Wales this weekend.
Lock Adam Beard is based in France, while there are 12 players plying their trade in England with Rhys Carey, Ollie Cracknell, Archie Griffin, Nicky Smith, David Jenkins, Freddie Thomas, Tomos Williams, Jarrod Evans, Louie Hennessy, Max Llewellyn, Nick Tompkins and Louis Rhys-Zammit.
In contrast, Wales has a long-term agreement with its teams to allow players to participate in the national team, so the names of Ospreys, Cardiff, Scarlets and Dragons make up the 30-man squad this weekend.
The Springboks will also have a limited pool of options as some of their players have returned to English, French and Japanese clubs, while head coach Rassie Erasmus has also released players returning to South African squads for the URC.
South Africa will be without World Player of the Year Malcolm Marks, Thomas du Toit, Boan Ventre, Load de Jager, RJ Snyman, Pieter-Steve du Toit, Grant Williams, Handre Pollard, Manny Lebouk, Jesse Creel, Cheslin Kolbe and Edwell van der Merwe, who have returned to their respective associations and provincial clubs.
