Celtic manager Wilfried Nancy insists he remains “together with the board” and believes “we can turn things around” despite their sixth loss in eight games since. Derby loss to Rangers.
The Frenchman praised his team’s “outstanding” first half, as they took the lead through Yang Hyun-jun and wasted several other chances.
But their rivals in the city rose up strongly in the second half and exposed the fragility of Nancy’s defense, with two goals from Youssef Al-Sharmiti and a third from Mickey Moore.
The 3-1 defeat means Rangers are level on points with second-placed Celtic, who could fall six points behind Hearts if the leaders beat Livingston later on Saturday.
While Parkhead fans staged a post-match protest directed at the club’s board, Nancy told BBC Scotland: “It was disappointing because we deserved more today, but again we needed more goals.
“In the second half, we conceded three goals from throw-ins. It’s hard to accept, but it’s true. It’s not about the players or tactics, it’s about the moments.
“It’s not about me, it’s about the fans being disappointed because I know what this match means. I can understand the disappointment, but I also saw what we can do.”
“We are really close, there are many things that can change. If not, I wouldn’t talk like this. I really believe we can turn things around.”
“We are with the council.”
