Winter Olympics 2026: Bruce Mowatt and Jane Dodds deny bronze to net as Britain’s medal wait continues

In a game with good margins, Mowat and Dodds were repeatedly an inch or two from where they should have been.

However, Dodds’ efforts partly failed and the Italians stole one. It would be a recurring theme as Constantini and Amos Mosaner dictated the contest.

It wasn’t. Constantini, who was calm throughout, played a perfect shot to ensure the Italians had a two-goal lead once again with two goals to play.

Needing a big score, GB posted their own Powerplay, but again could only take one and were left needing a steal to even force an extra end.

They couldn’t. They were left to face the nightmare scenario of another Games in which they finished fourth and without a medal in the mixed doubles.

“Last night we talked about how lucky we are to be playing in the Olympics with your best teammates,” Mowat added. “It was very special to be here with Jane.

“We’re obviously frustrated but I’m proud of us for sticking with it.”

In Beijing, they responded in the right way with gold for women and silver for men. What will they do this time?
