✅ **What You’ll Learn**:
Accusations of cheating. Expletives were hurled across the ice. Counterclaims of a sting operation with illegal photography. In curling?!
The drama began when Canadian Mark Kennedy got into a heated verbal argument with Swede Oscar Eriksson towards the end of his team’s 8-6 win.
The Swedes believed Kennedy was repeatedly touching some of his rocks, an illegal move.
But the cards were signed by both teams in the end, meaning the result will stand in a sport proudly ruled by players.
Video footage then found its way into circulation after the match. Was it premeditated?
The next day, Switzerland reported Kennedy for the same crime. World Curling then announced that they would deploy additional officials for the remainder of the games to check double touches.
Canadian women’s dancer Rachel Holman was double-touched, as was Team GB’s Bobby Lammy – both unintentional incidents and a case of a personal fall stuck on granite.
World Curling has changed its protocol again and teams can now request monitoring of stone delivery if they have doubts, for a minimum of three parties.
