Great Britain’s mixed wheelchair curling team suffered a heartbreaking 5-4 loss to 2022 Winter Paralympic bronze medalist Canada in their third round-robin match in Milan-Cortina.

The team of Karen Aspey, Austin McKenzie, Stuart Pimblett and Hugh Niblo led 4-2 heading into the final over but failed to land their final stones and Canada, who had the final stone advantage, got the three they needed to secure the win.

In para-snowboarding, Britain’s Davey Zeo was taken to hospital as a precaution after falling while preheating on the Snowboard Cross UL (Upper End).

The 38-year-old from Edinburgh is believed to be the first snow athlete with motor neurone disease to compete at the Games.

Teammate James Barnes-Miller paid the price for a poor opening to the quarter-finals in the same division and failed to advance.

“I made a mistake at first,” he told BBC Sport. “I was trying to pull back and I made a mistake at another corner. It wasn’t the cleanest, which is unfortunate because I qualified well yesterday and felt good in practice.”
