Great Britain suffered their second defeat in the wheelchair curling mixed doubles event at the Winter Paralympics, losing 14-3 in just seven ends to world number one South Korea in Milano-Cortina.

The team of Joe Butterfield and Jason Kane, which also lost its opening game on Wednesday, could not match the setup and accuracy of their opponents.

The GB pair can only score one goal with the ultimate stone hammer advantage at the first and third ends.

It all fell to the British in the fourth end, as the Korean pair Hyejin Baek and Yongsuk Lee led 3-2 in the match and scored four goals with one stone each. Butterfield missed a clear attempt and Pike sent her final stone home to secure the score by five to put them ahead 8-2 at half-time.

Team GB elected to use a powerplay in the fifth end but once again Korea took control at the end and managed to steal two to leave them up 10-2 and in strong control.

Although Team GB pulled one back in the sixth end, the Koreans maintained their dominance with another strong seventh end to add four more and the match ended early before the scheduled final end.

Team GB will play again at 18:05 BST on Thursday against Latvia as both teams seek their first win in the inaugural mixed doubles tournament.
