Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025: Two Australian players ‘touched inappropriately’ in Indore

Two Australian cricketers were “approached and touched inappropriately” while in India for the Women’s Cricket World Cup, Cricket Australia said.

The incident occurred in Indore on Thursday, the morning after Australia’s victory over England, as the players were walking to a cafe.

“We can confirm that a motorcyclist approached and inappropriately touched two members of the Australian women’s team as they walked to a cafe in Indore,” Cricket Australia said in a statement.

“The matter has been reported by team security to the police who are handling the matter.”

Rajesh Dandotia, additional deputy commissioner of police (crime) in Indore, told BBC News Hindi: “The accused chased the female players for some distance and continued making obscene remarks.

“He then rode his motorcycle… and made inappropriate physical contact. The accused was identified through CCTV footage and was arrested.”

Australia will play South Africa in its final group stage match of the tournament on Saturday in Indore.
