Sam Kerr scored twice as defending champions Chelsea secured a five-goal win past WSL2 side Crystal Palace to reach the fifth round of the Women’s FA Cup.
Millie Bright found an early goal for Sonia Bombastor’s side, nodding in a corner kick at the back post to take the lead in the 13th minute.
The Blues made it 3-0 on the half-hour mark, Kerr calmly threading the ball under Shai Yanez after being set up by Erin Cuthbert before Juru Reiten scored from the penalty spot.
The 32-year-old Australian added another goal in the 52nd minute when she headed in a cross from Reiten, before Alyssa Thompson provided Chelsea’s fifth goal.
On Saturday, Sunderland, the other team in the WSL2 Championship, were unable to pull off an upset as they were beaten by the London City Lionesses.
London City dominated the match, but they were able to create few chances against the Sunderland team, which attacked well in defense and limited the space available.
With open play opportunities limited, the visitors needed a set-piece to get the game’s only goal in the 50th minute when Wasa Sangari conceded a corner kick at the near post and sent a header over Grace Moloney.
The draw for the fifth round will be drawn on Monday, January 19.
