WSL Football was asked to provide footage of Tuesday’s Women’s League Cup quarter-final and semi-final draws due to concerns over the process.

The draw was held live on WSL Football’s TikTok page and was officiated by social media influencer GK Barry and Portsmouth midfielder Ella Rutherford.

Questions were asked after it emerged that the ball had been pulled and then dropped back into the bag by accident, and then taken out again to be used as part of the draw.

The referee present confirmed that the ball, which revealed one of the two home teams in the first match of the semi-final, was the same number as the ball that was first drawn.

WSL Football confirms that had it not been the same number drawn a second time, the draw would have been able to resume.

One of the clubs participating in the draw told BBC Sport that it had requested to watch the footage. Re-watching is not currently available on WSL Football’s official social media or YouTube channel.

Meanwhile, BBC Sport has learned that WSL Football has apologized to Tottenham following a comment made by GK Barry during the draw.

While pulling out the ball bearing the Tottenham name, the goalkeeper asked Barry: “What do you think of Tottenham?” – in reference to the anti-Tottenham chants sometimes sung by Arsenal fans.

The comment raised questions about the professionalism of the draw, and WSL Football is said to have made it clear that the comment was inappropriate.

The quarter-final matches will be held over the weekend of December 19-21, while the semi-final matches will be held on January 21-22.
