Gloucester-Hartpury have made it 10 wins from 10 in the Women’s Super League Rugby Championship as they ran in seven tries at home to third-placed Harlequins.

Cecilia Tuipulotu impressed for the defending champions and helped them on their way to a comprehensive 45-22 win with two tries in the first half.

The league leaders open a 10-point lead over second-placed Saracens, who host Bristol Bears on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Sale Sharks won 36-31 at Trailfinders Stadium in Saturday’s other match.

Kate Williams scored an early goal for Gloucester-Hartpury but Harlequins scored two tries either side of a Tuipulotu double, through Ella Cromack and Lauren Torley.

The visitors went into half-time trailing just 19-10 and refused to let the league leaders fold, twice responding to goals from Kelsey Jones and Tatiana Herd with tries of their own from Liana Michaele Tu and Aoife Weaver.

The Irish international’s efforts resulted in a bonus point for Queen’s, before Gloucester-Hartpury made it safe with late tries from Maud Muir and Lucy Simpson.

Elsewhere, Sale Sharks produced a strong display at Trailfinders to come back from 10 points down with 20 minutes remaining to secure their second win of the season.

Charlotte Fry ran in the decisive late try for the Sharks, but they remain seventh in the table, eight points behind the fifth-placed Trailfinders.

Women’s Premier League rugby continues with two matches on Sunday (February 15):
