Women’s Premiership Rugby: May Campbell inspires Saracens to victory over Harlequins

May Campbell scored three tries as she helped Saracens return to the top of the Women’s Super League Rugby table thanks to a 43-26 win over Harlequins.

Saracens are level on 55 points with Gloucester-Harpur, who beat Exeter Chiefs on Friday, but lead thanks to a superior points difference.

Campbell went ahead early to put her side ahead against Harlequins, who responded with a Jade Konkel try.

The home team was without English player Ellie Kildon as she was unable to return to the UK due to travel disruption caused by the conflict in the Middle East.

The two teams exchanged tries with Sophie Bridger for Saracens and Aoife Wafer for Harlequins before the visitors retired.

Olivia Apps scored with a smart finish for Saracens, and teammate Jess Breach curled in a powerful shot to land and give her side a bid for a bonus point before half-time.

Two tries from Campbell after the break helped Saracens lead 40-12, and despite crosses by Lagi Tuima and Ella Cromack for Harlequins, a Zoe Harrison penalty sealed the visitors’ win.
