World Cup 2026: The duration of the first half of the final match is up to 25 minutes

The halftime break in the World Cup final on Sunday is expected to last between 20 and 25 minutes.

An 11-minute Super Bowl-style show, headlined by Madonna, Shakira and K-pop band BTS, will be performed during the interval at New York’s New Jersey Stadium.

While sources within the FIFA World Cup organizer suggest the break will be around 20 minutes, it is understood one option is a normal 15-minute half-time break and then a planned 11-minute show.

The Laws of the Game, governed by the International Football Association Board, stipulate that players are entitled to a rest between half-time “not exceeding 15 minutes”.

The first half of last year’s Club World Cup final, also organized by FIFA and held in New Jersey, lasted 24 minutes due to a performance that included Coldplay, J Balvin, Doja Cat, Temz and Emmanuel Kelly.

The World Cup Final will start at 15:00 local time (20:00 GMT) and there will be a closing ceremony starting at 13:30 local time (18:30 GMT).

Tom Cruise, Laura Pausini, Nicole Scherzinger, Robbie Williams and IShowSpeed ​​are scheduled to perform as part of the ceremony, with Jennifer Hudson singing the US national anthem.

Spain booked its place in the final by defeating France 2-0 in the first semi-final match in Dallas on Tuesday.

They will face either England or Argentina, who meet in Atlanta on Wednesday (20:00 GMT).
