Scotland will meet the USA in the bronze medal game on Saturday at the World Men’s Curling Championship after losing in the semi-final to Canada.
Ross White Rink, making its debut in the competition, reeled off 10 straight wins to finish the round robin in second place, but left a 7-6 lead after eight ends, trailing 9-7.
White couldn’t find a way into the button in the 10th, giving up one steal.
“There were a couple of heavyweights hitting the ball by each team, but it’s great to get past that,” Canada skip Matt Dunstone said.
In the other semifinal, Sweden, led by seven-time world champion Niklas Edin, needed an extra end to beat the United States 8-6.
The bronze medal match begins at 15:00 GMT, with a live broadcast on the BBC Sport website and BBC iPlayer.
White, along with Robin Brydon, Ewan Kyle and Craig Waddell, were aiming to retain the title for Scotland after world number one Bruce Mowatt’s win last year.
Moat Circuit chose not to compete after claiming silver at the Olympics in Cortina.
