💡 **What You’ll Learn**:

Luke Littler produced a stunning display to thrash Gian van Veen 7-1 and win the PDC World Championship for the second year in a row.

The 18-year-old Englishman becomes the fourth player to win the title in successive years, joining Phil Taylor, Adrian Lewis and Gary Anderson in that elite group.

His second win in only his third appearance at Alexandra Palace also means that Taylor, with 14 titles, and Michael van Gerwen, with three world titles, are the only ones with more PDC world titles than Littler.

And while Littler may still be 12 years shy of Taylor’s PDC record, the kind of masterclass he provided against Van Veen will only fuel talk that “The Nuke” might go after what seemed an insurmountable feat.

“It’s very special,” Littler told Sky Sports. “We have to keep going, we have to keep adding more titles. We cannot stop here. We are still in this spiral.”

Littler averaged over 107 for most of the match, eventually reaching 106.02, leaving Van Veen – at just under 100 – trailing helplessly.

Having moved into such a dominant position, Littler finished in style with a 147 before roaring as he charged towards the crowd that had supported him throughout the final.

After collecting the £1 million prize money, tears flowed as Van Veen congratulated him before receiving the Sid Waddell Trophy from Olympic cycling legend Sir Chris Hoy.
