Britain’s Skye Brown has become a skateboarding world champion for the second time after winning gold in a rain-disrupted park event in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The 17-year-old was leading the standings with a score of 88.16 on Sunday when organizers canceled the third round of the final due to rain.
Japanese Mizuho Hasegawa won the silver medal with 84.36 points, while 83.90 points were enough for American Mina Stice to get bronze.
“The level is crazy,” Brown told World Skate. “I had to put in a lot of effort to get here, but I’m definitely bummed that we didn’t make it all the way to the final.”
“Winning, and being world champion on International Women’s Day certainly means a lot, but there are bigger things happening.
“This is a huge feeling and I’m so grateful but there are bigger things, I’m just praying for peace.”
Brown became Great Britain’s first world skateboarding champion at the age of 14 when she won gold in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates in 2023.
She was also Britain’s youngest ever Olympic medalist, winning bronze as a 13-year-old at the postponed Tokyo 2020 Games.
