Zoe Ball has announced that she will be leaving her role as presenter of her BBC Radio 2 show.
Speaking on the programme, the 55-year-old said she would be replaced by presenter Emma Willis. Paul will present her last program next Saturday and will continue to present special programs on the station.
βI loved being among my dear friends Romesh [Ranganathan] And Rylan [Clark]”You know, I love you all, but I don’t just disappear,” she said.
βObviously it’s going to be a Christmas Kroner and I’m doing a show for the ages in the new year, more on that later.
βBut I’m happy to tell you that you’ll be in safe hands, because there’s a superwoman who’s no stranger to you all, but that means she’ll officially become a member of the Radio 2 family.
βYou’ll love her in The Voice, The Circle, Big Brother, Cooking with the Stars, Love Is Blind and Dealing Babies, she’s a great girl, so welcome to the family of BBC Radio 2 and Saturday Afternoon, Emma Willis.β
Ball was the second-highest paid BBC presenter after Gary Lineker, receiving Β£950,000 from April 2023 to 2024. She maintained the same position this year, although she received a smaller sum of around Β£510,000 after resigning from the Radio 2 breakfast show in late 2024 to focus on her family.
In a statement released by the BBC, Willis said: βI’m a huge fan of Radio 2, so I’m thrilled to be joining the family β and it’s a real honor to follow in the huge footsteps that Zoe, someone I admire and adore, has left behind.β
βI’m very much looking forward to spending my Saturday lunchtimes with the Radio 2 audience and will be happy to fill up on a Romesh and Rylan sandwich!β
Helen Thomas, Head of Radio 2, said: βEmma is one of the most popular broadcasters in the UK, so I’m thrilled to have her join our all-star family of Radio 2 broadcasters. I’m sure our loyal listeners will welcome her with open arms.
βI can’t wait to hear Emma’s new show as part of our Superstar Saturday weekend schedule, featuring Tony Blackburn, Dermot O’Leary, Romesh Ranganathan, Rylan, Lisa Tarbuck, Gary Davies and Fearne Cotton.β
The ball will remain on the broadcaster’s airwaves. She will present a new series of award-winning podcast Eras for Radio 2 and BBC Sounds, focusing on the life and career of Phil Collins.
The show will be released on BBC Sounds on 19 January before being broadcast on Radio 2 on 25 January.
