World number one Judd Trump won six straight frames despite joking that he was only playing at “10%” as he cruised to a 6-2 win over Zhao Xintong to reach the Champions League final in Leicester.

China’s Zhao, the world champion, made breaks of 50 and 72 to take the opening two frames, as Trump initially looked in poor form.

However, the Englishman responded with sets of 68, 73, 77 and 66 as he reeled in the next five frames before sealing his victory with a break of 63.

Trump said, “From the score 2-0, I felt like I had control of the match. I scored big goals and didn’t waste much. I’m happy to have reached the final because I haven’t reached 100% yet, maybe I’ve reached about 10%.”

“I changed my tip from copper to titanium this season and I’m really struggling.

“I don’t feel comfortable or fluent, I have to pay attention to every shot.

He added: “When I play my best, I know I will win nine times out of 10, but over the past few years I have learned how to win more often when I am not at my best.”

Trump has won just one of his previous five finals at the event, and will now face either Mark Selby or Neil Robertson on Sunday as he looks to claim his first title since the 2024 UK Championships.
