Livingston will contact the Scottish Football Association to report Aberdeen over an alleged racist comment directed at striker Jeremy Bukela.

After Livingston’s 6-2 defeat by Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Saturday, coach David Martindale said Bukela, 37, was crying in the dressing room after a comment made on the pitch.

It is understood the alleged comment was of a racist nature and came amid a second-half brawl that led to Bukela being sent off.

After the match, Martindale said: “I’ve got a 37-year-old striker crying, so I’ll need to go and try to get to the bottom of this striker.”

Aberdeen said in a statement: “The club is aware of allegations that racist language was used during today’s match with Livingston FC at Pittodrie.”

“The player in question has been informed of these allegations and he strongly denies them.

“Aberdeen FC condemns any and all forms of discrimination and we will cooperate fully with all relevant authorities during any investigation.

“While this process continues, it would be inappropriate to comment further,” he added.
