✅ **What You’ll Learn**:
With the RM9L RGB-Mini, TCL doesn’t skimp on the HDMI 2.1 ports. There are four in total, and each can support a 144Hz refresh rate for low-latency PC gaming or anything you want to display on your TV. One of the HDMI 2.1 ports is for passing eARC audio to your powered speakers or receiver. I added an Xbox Series There are two USB ports (one of which is coaxial), an Ethernet port for wired connectivity, and a digital optical port. The TV uses Wi-Fi 6, which is fast and compatible.
I liked the remote for the most part, because it’s clean and easy to use. The brightness controls are on the right side, which is a surprisingly nice design choice. For late-night gaming sessions, you can quickly lower the brightness or increase its brightness when sunlight falls. Small notches on the remote control for volume and channels help you locate them without looking. The buttons for free TV and a few other channels seemed like overkill. Also, the home button isn’t centered, so it’s hard to find. Fortunately, at this price, the remote is backlit.
Real-world test results
Two films I always test right away, especially to see if the contrast and brightness are as exceptional as they should be for the price of a TV, are Awake On Netflix and creator On the Fandango at Home app. This is because these films contain very dimly lit scenes at night or before dawn. Some OLED models even look washed out during a cycling scene Awake Actress Gina Rodriquez passes by a man wearing a blue shirt. I couldn’t see what was happening until I selected the Vivid picture mode. I find Mini RGB to be difficult at times, and requires adjustments to the image quality.
to creator, The early scene near the ocean didn’t have the vibrancy I wanted for the price, looking a little washed out without enough deep blues or blacks. Even after using Vivid or Dolby Vision IQ picture modes, the scene still looked very gray.
For skin tone benchmarks, the RM9L’s performance was lower than that of the LG Micro RGB Evo. I noticed no difference in tones, but in side-by-side testing with an LG TV, there was more of a difference. This means the RM9L aligns more closely with the mid-range Sony Bravia 7 Mark II and the Hisense UR9 which also benefited from Mini RGB technology.
In the demo reel standard, there is a difficult challenge involving white fog over a snowy mountain. The Leica Cine Play 1 projector is certainly not a fair test (even if it is cheaper) as this model has such an exceptional lens, but fog was much more noticeable on it. The green grass near the fence in winter was sharper and sharper than it was on the Hisense UR9, and the two TVs were nearly even during a clip with a buffalo in a field, showing different shades of brown. The LG Micro RGB Evo rendered several scenes with more colors, including a yellow flower, red cactus, purple butterfly, and dark trees in a night scene.
